Thermal resistance measurement of contact interface between metal and polymer materials

In this study, we used a steady-state method to measure the thermal resistance of the entire measurement section, including the thermal interface material (TIM), and attempted to separate it into the thermal resistance inside the TIM and the thermal contact resistance that occurs at the contact surface between the TIM and the upper and lower metal rods. Based on the obtained results, we analyzed the changes in the thermal conductivity of the TIM itself and the changes in the contact thermal resistance due to pressure.

We will apply the result to improving the accuracy of experiments during the development of construction machinery components.
